Kensington Palace has been transformed and is unleashing powerful and secret stories about the princesses who once lived there. Their lives have been re-imagined as installations offering a fascinating interpretation of the palaces hidden stories.
Moving Venue were given the task of creating canape trays inspired by the palaces new enchanting environment. Each princess had their story to tell and we wanted to create stimulating and thought provoking pieces which were linked with the stories being told.
Below you can see images of the exhibiton and how we were inspired to create our canape trays.
Below shows an image of the origami dress which was created for the palace. We used the theme of the fairytale and enchanted forest which runs through the exhibition , and then layed the white tree piece onto a mirror to reflect the butterflies which fly from the tray.
The room which was full of toys soldiers inspired us to create a tray full with our very own little plastic soldiers. We created a battle scene inside the tray and the guests could pick canapes from the top surface and look down onto the fight scene below.
The Kings drawing room housed a beautiful dress created by Echo Morgan with inspiration form the royal collectors of the past. The piece entitled 'Cabinet of curiosities' inspired us to create a canape tray using items and objects which the princesses famoulsly hauded. We used old maps, shells, and jewels to create this old frame canape tray. The guests ate from the old map and could view all the weird and wonderful trinkets.
